99.9% purity hydrogen
The Project aim has been the realization of a New Hydrogen Generation Unit with a production capacity of 15,000 Nm3/h of high purity hydrogen (99.9%) fed by both naphtha and natural gas feedstock. The unit has been designed for high reliability and availability of hydrogen at 99.0% purity or higher.
The design has been developed in order to achieve four years uninterrupted operation with catalyst lifetime cycle length based on this figure (4 years minimum). A turn down ratio capacity of 30% allows the unit to be operated also in case of low flow feedstock with hydrogen production equivalent to 4,500 Nm3/h.
The Hydrogen Generation Unit developed by KT has been the first project realized for Nynas AB Refinery, with which KT has developed a long cooperation in the following years, such as the Revamping on one of the previous existing Hydrogen Generation Unit and the construction of a new Sulphur Recovery Complex.
Smart software for the managing of engineering and documentation database have been successfully used during the development of all the project, allowing KT and Client personnel to be continuously and constantly updated on the status of the 3D Modelling process and vendor’s documentation status.
The construction activities have been supervised by KT personnel in strong cooperation with Client representatives starting from civil works up to the start-up and performance test.
Main subcontractors have been selected among Sweden, Italy and Poland to maximize the local content and the In-Country Value.
Plant has been successfully started-up with performance test executed on May of 2010 fed by Natural Gas feedstock.
